Joy Jarnagin

My name is Joy Jarnagin, and I am a graduating senior at Somerville High School. So far in my high school career, I have taken Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Physics 1, and AP Physics 2. I will be attending Boston University in the fall, majoring in biology on a pre-med track and specializing in neurobiology.

Kimberly Jin

My name is Kimberly Jin, and I am a rising senior at Acton Boxborough Regional High School. While I have always expressed an interest and curiosity in science, I only discovered my true passion for it while taking Honors Biology during my freshman year of high school.

Albert Mao

My name is Albert Mao. Next year (2016-2017), I will be a senior at Boston Latin School. I applied for the BSP training opportunity because I am interested in life science.

Niket Gowravaram

My name is Niket Gowravaram and I am a recent graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. I will be attending Harvard University in the fall of 2016. From a young age, I have always been interested in science and math.

Hossam Zaki

My name is Hossam Zaki, and I am a rising Junior at South Kingstown High School. At SKHS, I plan to take a variety of Science and Math classes, including Calculus, Biology, Psychology, and Physics. I had a passion science ever since I was a kid, experimenting in my parents kitchen, and I hope to end up making a career out of it.

Max Zegans

My name is Max Zegans and I’m a rising senior at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. I’m incredibly excited to be a BSP fellow. I’ve always loved thinking analytically about interesting problems, and I realized that I could express this passion through science when I took AP Chemistry my sophomore year.

Zachary Boughner

My name is Zachary Boughner, and I am a recent graduate of the Buckingham Browne and Nichols School (BB&N) in Cambridge, MA. In September, I will be a college freshman attending Columbia University.

My name is Taha Baig and as of this summer (2015), I will be a rising senior at Foxborough High School.  I have always had a great passion and interest in science. In high school, I have so far taken Honors Biology, Honors and AP Chemistry, and Honors and AP Physics. Next year I look forward to taking AP Biology.

Samuel Huang

My name is Samuel Huang and I am a recent graduate of Lexington High School and will be attending the Johns Hopkins University in the fall of 2015. I have always had an interest in the sciences, and throughout high school have taken Earth Science, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics C. In the future in college, I plan to further study the sciences, specifically the life sciences.

Omar Zaki

My name is Omar Zaki, and I am a graduate of South Kingstown High School in Rhode Island and rising freshman at Yale University where I plan on concentrating in the Physical Sciences..  Science has always been my passion, and I have pursued a great deal of studies in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics to further this hunger for knowledge.

Anna Lachenauer

My name is Anna Lachenauer, and I am a recent graduate of Milton Academy.  I have always been interested in science and have successfully completed Physics, Honors Chemistry, Honors Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology.  Next year, I will attend Harvard University, where I plan on concentrating in Life Sciences.

Andrew Smith

My name is Andrew Smith and as of this summer (2014) I will be a rising senior at Wellesley High School. Since an early age, I’ve always found myself drawn towards science and in my previous years of high school I studied Honors Earth Science, Honors and AP Chemistry, and AP Biology. In my senior year I look forward to an exciting AP Physics workload.

Barry Huang

My name is Barry Huang and I will be a senior at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in the fall of 2014. In my high school career, I have taken Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, and AP Chemistry. For my senior year, I will take AP Biology and AP Physics. I have always had a passion in the sciences and love to learn about new scientific developments and discoveries.

Pablo Reimers

My name is Pablo Reimers. I am seventeen years old, and this summer of 2014 I will be a rising senior at Belmont High School. The sciences have always been my greatest interest, and to date I have taken Honors and AP Physics, Honors Chemistry, and AP Biology in highschool. Next year I will take Honors Neuroscience, as well as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology through Harvard Extension.

My name is Russell Smith and I am seventeen years old.  The fall of 2013 I will be a senior at Concord-Carlisle high school.  So far, I have taken Honors Earth Science, Biology, and Chemistry at school, and next year I plan to take Honors Physics and AP Biology.

Mykayla Sandler

My name is Mykayla Sandler and I am a rising senior at Milton academy. I have successfully completed Physics, Honors Chemistry, and Honors Biology. In 2013 I plan to take Molecular Genetics, Anatomy and Physiology, and Engineering. I run for the Milton girls Cross Country team, write for the school newspaper, and volunteer at various community service sites around Boston.

Jonathan Kibel

My name is Jon Kibel and I am a recent graduate of Belmont Hill School and a rising freshman at Cornell University, where I will be attending the School of Engineering. This (2013) is my first year with the BSP program. I have taken AP Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Deborah Pano

My name is Deborah Pano, I recently graduated from Watertown High School. I'll be attending Northeastern University in the fall of 2013 to study chemical engineering. I'm not entirely sure what my end goal will be but I'm sure I want to work in a research lab.

Monica Sarahi Cisneros

My name is Monica Sarahi Cisneros and I am a rising senior at El Dorado High School in El Paso, Texas. I recently moved from Cd. Juarez, Mexico in 2008 to the United States. I have had a special inclination for the sciences from a young age.

Andrea Harris

My name is Andrea Harris and I reside in Dorchester, Massachusetts, a subsection of the city of Boston best known for its deep cultural roots. I am eighteen years old and a recent graduate of Milton Academy, a college preparatory school located in Milton, Massachusetts.

Anna Faris

My name is Anna Faris and this summer I am working on a project that aims to characterize specific interactions of proteins on the growing ends of microtubules. I work with the species Xenopus Iaevis, the African clawed frog, and study microtubules in their developing embryos.

Angela Berkowitz

My name is Angie Berkowitz, and this year (2011) is my first year as part of the Basic Science Partnership program. I recently graduated Milton Academy and will be attending Harvard University next fall.

Petar Todorov

My name is Petar Todorov and I am a rising freshman at Tufts University. I immigrated to the United States from Bulgaria in 2000 and settled in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Even in my childhood I enjoyed figuring out how things work, often taking them apart to discern their inner mechanisms. (Although I must admit, I wasn't great at putting them back together.)

Rachel Pano

My name is Rachel Pano, and I am a recent graduate of Watertown High School and rising freshman at Boston University. After completing honors physical science my freshman year, I went on to take Honors and AP Chemistry, Honors Biology, and AP Psychology. From the time I was five, I have desired a career in the sciences.

My name is Thomas Li and I will be a rising junior at Newton South High School. I have taken physics and chemistry and I plan to take AP Biology in the fall of 2009.

Kevin Easley

My name is Kevin Easley and I am sixteen years old. I am a rising junior at Bronxville High School in Bronxville, New York. I have successfully completed Honors Physics, Honors Chemistry, Honors Biology, and Honors Earth Science. In addition, I have completed AP Chemistry. In my junior year, I will be taking AP Physics.

Steven Parad

My name is Steven Parad. During my time at Wakefield High School, I have completed coursework in honors biology, honors physics, honors chemistry, and advanced placement chemistry. My time as both an intern and a teaching assistant at Boston University’s biotechnology laboratories from 2007 to 2008 has allowed me to hone my technique in biological experimentation.

Julia Yu

My name is Julia Yu and I am a rising junior at Newton South High School. I took Honors Chemistry this past year and Introduction to Physics in my freshman year. I have not taken any biology-specific courses yet, but I plan to take AP Biology in the coming year. I have found my short time in the Yuan Lab both informative and enjoyable.

Matt Robinson

My name is Matt Robinson and I live in Wellesley, Massachusetts. I am currently a senior at The Rivers School in Weston, Massachusetts. I have completed many courses in the field of science including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at the honors level, and I am currently in the process of completing AP Biology.

Rachel Cox

My name is Rachel Cox and I am a rising senior at Attleboro High School in Attleboro Massachusetts. To date, I have completed AP Chemistry, Honors Biology, and two Honors level basic science courses and I plan to take AP Biology and Honors Physics during my senior year. I have placed in my high school’s science fair and I have begun to feel very at home in my school’s science laboratory.

Marie Lea Berkowitz

My name is Marie Lea Berkowitz. This is my second year at the BSP program in which I have studied cyclin B degradation via the ubiquitin pathway and its relevance in cell division in the King Lab.

Cameron Fen

My name is Cameron Fen. I currently live in Newton Massachusetts and am going to be a senior at Newton South High school. I have taken Physics, Honors Chemistry, and AP Biology. This year I will take AP Physics and AP Chemistry. Outside of school, I run cross country and track. I am working in the Yuan lab which deals with regulated cell death.

Matt Burlingham

My name is Matt Burlingham and this is my second year participating in the BSP summer internship program. For the past two summers I have been working in the Avidor Reiss Lab which is investigating centriole growth, development and mutation through several angles of research including molecular biology, biochemistry, and genetics.

Jason Parad

My name is Jason Parad. I recently finished my junior year at Wakefield Memorial High School where I have completed science courses in Honors Physics, Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, and Advanced Placement Chemistry. In 2007, I received the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal, which is a national award given to high school juniors who have excelled in the fields of math and science.

Steve Sando

My name is Steve Sando and, at 19 years of age, I am the oldest and wisest of the fellows. I live in the fine town of Milton and will be attending Grinnell College in the fall of 2007. I am working for Don Kirkpatrick in the Gygi Lab, where we are using mass spectrometry to study proteomics.

Nathaniel L. Foote

I’m Nathaniel L. Foote and I am currently living in Hollywood, California where I have been for six years. I am about to enter my senior year of high school in the fall of 2007 at Ribét Academy College Preparatory School in Los Angeles. I switched to this school from Venice High School for my sophomore year because of the school’s better focus on science.

My name is Charles Li. I'm to be a senior at Newton South High School this upcoming fall. This is my second summer at Harvard Med., though my first with the BSP program. I am currently interning in the Ruderman lab where we are using Xenopus laevis embryos to elucidate the mechanism by which 2-methoxyestradiol inhibits the cell cycle.

My name is Samuel Lichtman-Mikol and I am a rising undergraduate junior at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I have previously interned at Harvard Medical School for two summers in the Weiner lab studying immunological aspects of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis.
